RONALD REAGAN PRESIDENTIAL LIBRARY, 40 Presidential Drive.
Located in Simi Valley off of Madera Road between the 118 and 23 freeways. For directions call 805-522-8444.
On display are many gifts the President and Mrs. Reagan received from all over the world. An exact replica of the Oval Office appears as it existed during Ronald Reagan’s administration, an actual piece of the Berlin Wall and many other mementos of the Reagan years are permanent exhibits. Visitors can board and look around Air Force One, which was used by Ronald Reagan. The John P. McGovern, M.D. Gallery of the Presidents displays portraits and biographies of all the men who have served as our nation’s chief executive. The featured artifact is a rare 1823 engraving of the Declaration of Independence, one of only thirty known to exist. Admission is $12.00 for adults (18–61), $9.00 for senior citizens, $3.00 for children 11–17, and ages 11 and under are free. Hours are 10 a.m.–5 p.m. daily.

SANTA MONICA PIER AQUARIUM, 1600 Ocean Front Walk, Santa Monica, located under the Carousel at the Santa Monica Pier.

The Santa Monica Pier Aquarium, a community program of Heal the Bay, is a science-based, environmental learning and public education facility, serving school groups, families and visitors. Approximately 20,000 students each school year come to the Aquarium on weekday field trips. The Aquarium is also open to the public, and families can learn about marine conservation and other environmental issues. During public visiting hours, families can enjoy many programs, including the Kids’ Corner, an interactive space full of books, games and puzzles centered around a marine theme. The Kids’ Corner also features a puppet theater and a host of puppets for visitors to use to create their own undersea adventures. Aquaria exhibits include interactive displays, touch tanks filled with animals found in tide pools and several large habitat tanks featuring animals and habitats found in the Santa Monica Bay.
Summer Public Hours: Open Saturday, 11:00–6:00 p.m.: Sunday until 5:00 p.m., Tuesday–Friday 2:00–6:00. Winter Hours: Saturday and Sunday 12:30–5:00; Tuesday–Friday 2:00–5:00 p.m. Admission is $5.00; 12 and under free.

SIMON WIESENTHAL CENTER MUSEUM OF TOLERANCE, 9786 W. Pico Blvd.

This is a high-tech, hands-on museum that focuses on two themes using interactive exhibits: the dynamics of racism and prejudice in America and the history of the Holocaust. Thirty-five hands-on exhibits spotlight major issues of intolerance which are part of our daily lives. There is a major interactive exhibit on the Los Angeles riots and a map providing information on more than 250 hate groups in the United States. In the Holocaust section, various historical scenes are recreated and original documents and artifacts are on display. Open Monday–Thursday 11:00 a.m.–6:30 p.m., Friday 11:00 a.m.–3 p.m., Sunday 11:00 a.m.–7:30 p.m. Closed Saturday. $10.00 adults, $7.00 students with ID, $7.00 children 12 and under, seniors $8.00.

SOUTHWEST MUSEUM of THE AMERICAN INDIAN, 234 Museum Drive, Los Angeles
The museum’s four permanent exhibitions explore the native cultures of California, the Northwest Coast. the Great Plains, and the Southwest. The museum contains some of the finest examples of American Indian art and cultural material in the United States. Cultural information is available on many aspects of Indian life, from warrior rituals to teepee construction.
Hours: 10:00 a.m.– 5:00 p.m. Tuesday–Sunday.
Admission is $9.00;
$5.00 for students with I.D. and seniors;
$3.00 for ages 2–12 years;
members are free.
