Resident Action Committee ByLaws
- PURPOSE
To represent the residents in matters related to all aspects of residency
education and provide an effective liaison between the residents and the GMEC.
- MEMBERSHIP
- One resident representative (maximum of two) from each core residency
program, to be elected by the program residents on an annual basis
- Ex-officio members (non-voting) to include the Assistant Dean-GME,
Director and staff-GME Office
- Any member may designate a representative if unable to attend a meeting.
- The membership will elect a Chair
- REGISTRATION
Representatives who are on probation must resign their position.
If a resident is unable or unwilling to serve out their term, the
residency program will elect a new representative.
- GMEC REPRESENTATION
The chair and one elected resident will serve as representatives to the
Graduate Medical Education Committee.
- MEETINGS
Regular meetings of the RAC shall be held at least quarterly at noon on
Wednesday afternoons. Special meetings of the RAC may be called by the Chair.
- ATTENDANCE
Arrangements will be made by the Program Director to relieve the resident
representative of clinical responsibilities whenever possible, in order to
attend regularly scheduled meetings.
- QUORUM
A majority of the resident voting members shall constitute a quorum for the
transaction of business.
- VOTING
At any meeting of the RAC, each member or designated representative from a
core residency program shall have the right to vote in person. Each member
has one vote.
- VOTE REQUIRED
At any meeting of the RAC, all matters shall be determined by the vote of a
majority of voting members present.
